The only home Ldolza had ever known, a life of unblemished comfort, was being devoured by a ravenous inferno. Through the veil of fire, a titanic, black silhouette loomed. It had the twisted visage of a dragon and eyes that bled a malevolent crimson light. To young Ldolza, it was a nightmare made flesh.
“My Lady, this way!”
“Let me go! My father is still—!”
Clutched in the arms of a servant, Ldolza reached out in desperation. Her father, pinned beneath the smoldering wreckage of a collapsed wall, clawed at the earth to reach her. Then came a roar that tore the very sky, followed by a torrent of flame from the shadows.
Before her eyes, her father was reduced to ash and cinder.
She awoke with a bitter taste in her mouth.
That dream again. The vision of her mother and father gasping for air amidst the smoke while she stood paralyzed—a useless child. Her heart hammered against her ribs, and a cold, sickly sweat clung to her skin.
Ten years had passed since the assault on the Ardius Ducal Estate. The manor, once a beacon upon the seaside cliffs, was gone now, its ruins swept away by time. After the attack, Ldolza had been taken in by the faith, spending her days in a fugue of grief, unable to even eat.
It was during those hollow days that she received The Revelation. A light, both tender and terrifyingly powerful, cascaded from the heavens—the blessing of the Goddess Aztla.
In that moment, Ldolza understood its purpose. This was not a gift of healing. It was the power of Vengeance.
She looked at her hands, still trembling upon the bedsheets. She had since commissioned a custom Chainsaw-type Blitz from the Ramsey Corporation. It was a brutal engine of war, designed with a single goal: to rend the impenetrable hide of the beast she had seen that day.
I will have my debt, she whispered. I will carve that monster apart and savor every shriek of its agony.
In her brilliant blue eyes, a dark, vengeful flame began to smolder.
